This is a fun shooter. It's an accurate weapon, little recoil, and just plain fun. I bought it for my wife to use and she likes it. It doesn't scare her like my .45

A wonderful gun! Yes, it's a bit big for a 380 but it shoots more accurately than a Bersa Thunder and (mine at least) has never jammed or had a FTF in 500+ rounds. Hi-points are one of the best deals in firearms!

i have to say that it is for the money, the best buy. however, the polymer looks a litle toyish..but thats just polymer. i havent shot this yet. i really wish they made these in a 9x18 makarov calober..cheaper to shoot than 380..but im not complaining..it is a bit top heavy due to the massive slide but overall i love the way it feels in my hand and seems to drop right into place on the sights. hope to shoot it soon! by the way, mine did not come with a recoil compensator, nor 2 mags..just one 8 rd magazine and ghost sight ring & acc..

Excelent gun
By Hi-Point Owner
Review Date: 06/11/2008
Rating: Excelent gun
It lacks some of the creative features included on more expensive guns, but they are very accurate and very reliable. The reviews from people who were upset about reliability are just cases of people who didn't bother to try tuning the feed portions of the gun as these are occasionally off when the gun is new. So no, you shouldn't trust your life to a gun you just pulled out of the box and fired twice. My hi-point jammed once out of the box. I adjusted the magazine lips and polished the feed ramp and I have not had a jam in the 800 rounds since, nor has my wife on the 800 rounds she has fired through her hi-point. For the price, you can't beat it. For a little more than double the price you can get some great features like dove tail / trigger safeties as well as better weight/size/aesthetics, but unless you are going to break the $1K limit, you won't see a difference in accuracy nor reliability.

Gr8 weapon
By Chris
Review Date: 06/10/2008
Rating: Gr8 weapon
I have owned a C9 9mmLuger and this CF380 and love both. I have owned firearms of much higher praise and price and had to have them tweaked to be reliable. These are some very reliable weapons especially when it is economical so the working man can afford one.So far I have had 1 rnd to jam in each. Not one per mag but 1 rnd total. Both mine have over 5500 rnds through them. The warranty can't be beat. It is a no questions asked 100% lifetime . It doesn't matter if you are the original owner or 4th owner. I have never sent either of these back. I bought a rough .40 off an auction site and sent it in with part missing and in terrible shape. I got it back it was perfect in every way and fired like a brand new one as well. They are awesome. The price is excellent. I would say any weapon that can handle 2000 rounds without cleaning is pretty good. When it needs cleaning you can send it back to factory and they will clean it for you. No other maker will do all this. Hi-Point does it and does it well. enuff sed!!!!!!!!

not that great
By sari

Over all its alright gun. I had it jam on me at least one time every other clip i think there on to something here. They just need to work a little more on the design make it more user frendly.. to take apart is a pain but safety wise is a great gun and really accurate but not 100% reliable.. I think they should listen to peoples feedback and take it from there.....

You get what you pay for, I always figure jams and stove pipes come from a serious case of limp wrist. or using blaser ammo :) (aluminum)I just tried out my new HP 380. While I can see a need for improving the trigger, oh yeah this IS an inexpesive gun! 3 boxes of shells most by my lady friend and not one jam, hang up, stove pipe or what not. My little KelTec P3 always had at least one round that it did'n punch off. For an inexpensive little thing I give 4 stars

If you are a gun snob, this isn't your gun. If your Hi-Point jams, you need to take a gun class. I have put over 1000 through mine and never had a ftf. Do your research and you will find this is the best gun for the money or 3 times the money.

I bought the CF380 because I will be attending the concealed weapon class in a few days and my 25 automatic was not allowed. I was surprised how well made the pistol is for the price. We had a shell hang up on the first clip we tried, but after that I have fired some 50 rounds without any problem. Once my husband changed the rear sight for me and adjusted the height I have been quite accurate. I can recomend this firearm to anyone. Pat K in Tx

Compared to Beretta 9mm and S&W 357 Revolver
By Leprechaun

Rating: Compared to Beretta 9mm and S&W 357 Revolver
First off I cant really compare it to my S&W, but if I had to the accuracy is pretty close. I have used the Beretta 9mm for 10 years, to include in combat, and have also used the glock 9mm we issue to the Iraqi Army and there really isn't a ton of difference. The Hi-point 380 feels a little bit cheeper, but it is. As far as reliability and accuracy its in a close second to the Glock. I would take one to combat with me any day.

For those with jams
By EMoney
Review Date: 02/07/2009
Rating: For those with jams
For those who are complaining about jams. Look, yes this very inexpensive gun but great for the price! Where you are having a problem is not the gun itself but quite possibly the ammo. I have shot different ammo's with this gun and found that some of your cheaper ammo had a tendency to cause problems but no very often at all. I said a box of 50 I would had maybe 2 or 3 that would jam up. Plus remember, it is very important to keep a weapon like this in top shape otherwise you are going to be more likely to have problems. I bought mine from a highly respected gun dealer and he had positive things to say about it.

Great Value
By Prostang
Review Date: 02/17/2009
Rating: Great Value
Ive got a 9mm hi point, a 9mm berreta fs, and a .40 s&w sigma. I would take my c9 over either of the other two. Have put around 3500 rounds through it with not a single jam. the sigma has a plastic handle just like the hi-point...but i never hear anyone complain about that. my s&w and beretta are both more attractive weapons, BUT in no way shape or form are they better or more reliable than my c9...the sigma doesnt even have a safety...but because it costs just shy of $400 it is better? Go for the high point great for the starter or an experienced shooter.

I just bought my 45 this week. I took it out the first day an put out 100 rounds, no problems. This guns works great. Its just as nice as my xd40. Don''t listen to the nye sayers, try it for your self. The only down side is that the stock clip hanging an inch out of the bottom is ugly. But its an easy fix with the 7 round clip that sits flush.

It looks like the quality on Hi Point pistols is going done a little. Had to make a few adjustments to my new CF-380. Had to open up the slots in the slide to knock out the breakdown pin. Trigger was stiffer then my 45, not sure why. Still a good accurate pistol and it was a great price. I put about 200 round through the pistol and no problems at all. Shots every time!!

Well I have to say to all the non belivers in this pistol it does fire. I at first jammed it on the first round out from the box brand new. But once I fired over 50 rounds through it, the Gun performed great and accurate out to 20 yards. I have shot many weapons and I bought this to try it out. After firing this gun, it impressed me and although it does not have the worthyness of the legacy names in the indudstry, it does stand up to many in it''s class I''d say. The only draw back is it does not come apart easliy. The Saftey is a hard to thumb and the magazines I think can only come from Hi-Point. No extended round mags are available to my knowledge. As a first time range pistol I''d recommend it. As for home protection, I''d go bigger and maybe lighter but I''m sure it will do if cleaned and maintained properly just like any other gun on the market.

I took the CF380 to the range over the weekend and shot about 50 rounds. I experienced a few FTEs, which I expected based on reading other reviews. The problem should go away after a few hundred rounds. It is quite a bit heavier than any 380s that I have shot. The gun looks kind of strange in a cool way, not really ugly as some other people had claimed. IMHO it is a superb handgun for the price. Accuracy is outstanding, after one mag I was able to consistently hit 2-inch groupings at 7 yards. Field stripping took quite a bit of work, it wasn''''t that easy to take out the slide retaining pin which must be removed to separate the slide from the frame. However, for $140 it''''s a real bargain. It is not a Glock or a Sig, but then you don''''t have to drop half a G either.

Hi-Point CF380
By RW
Review Date: 08/19/2008
Rating: Hi-Point CF380
My son purchased a Hi-Point CF380 several years ago. I, like most, cringed when when I saw it. I have always trusted revolvers, like my old, trusty Ruger Security Six. We went plinking and my Ruger did it's usual fine job. My son unlimbered his new 380, right out of the box, and put 8 in the X ring. I was astonished and demanded to see "that weird looking thing"! I slid a full clip into it, pulled it up and banged away. Now I won't say I did has well as he did, but the 1 flyer I had was my fault, not the pistol's. I was duly impressed with the accuracy of this "ugly thing", but knew it wouldn't last, because it was some kind of "plastic" crap. Well, long story short, after having my son run several hundred rounds thru his and observing the continued accuracy and reliability of the weapon (only 2 "stovepipes" it had was on some bad handloads a buddy did for him). I am now the proud owner of one of those "ugly things" and keep it with me on the road. It was just as good, right out of the box, as his was and after about 200rds, no jams. I'm in hotels about 9 months out of the year and feel just as safe, as I did carrying my Ruger. I know that if I have to defend myself with my CF380, I will be well armed. Peace of mind is a nice thing!!

It doesn't matter where you go, there always seems to be people who think there over priced hand piece is the best thing in the world. These are the same folks who look down on the lower cost hand guns simply because they didn't cost as much as their gun. Come on folks, get your heads out of your buts and come down to reality already. Take a look around you, the roads have lots of Lincolns and Cadilacs, but guess what there are probably more Ford Escorts and Chevy Caviliers on the road and they get you to point A just as well. OK, the point of what I am trying to say is that just because these Hi-Points don't cost and arm and a leg, they are still decent guns that get the job done. I have nothing agains the higher priced guns, but I do have a problem with the people who own them that always are cutting up on the lower priced guns. I am thankful that Hi-Point is out there for all of those who simply don't have the enormouse amount of cash needed to by a fancy name brand hand gun.

this gun is very reliable , no jams whatsoever, firing over 1000 rounds!!!! that's right. This is a steal for this gun. It is concealable and fun to shoot at the range and at tagrets with republicans heads on them! very nice.
