I bought one after shooting a friend's. I've had it jam only 2 times (both when shooting cheap Wolf steel case) and I've put over 1000 rounds thru. Never had it jam when shooting brass. Cannot beat this gun for the dollar. Plus they come with a no questions asked lifetime warranty. Local dealer here told me he has sold a couple of hundred of the Hi-Points, and sent only 1 back. H-P sent a new one within a couple of days with a sorry note and extra clip.

This hand gun is not a POS, It is a excellent defensive weapon and it will not let you down on the range or ?, It sometimes runs into ammo that no gun likes, But this has eaten Federal, Blazer and many others with out a single jam nor a single Failure to feed... It is heavy and the one reason it is heavy is to help with recoil and durability.

hi point 45acp, the best firearm i ever owned! im in the army and i have fired many firearms from around the world but this one is my favorite. at work i use a glock 19 9mm i have had many jams, so far i put 150 rounds (fmj) though this hi point and no jams. i nicknamed my 45 "hellboy" because the size of this baby makes it a beast! plus it looks like the kind of weapon hellboy would kill the bad guys with....

Awesome gun. Just bought it and I love it. Due to some of the reviews I thought it might jam on me. But I shot up a box of 50 Magtech FMJ's and I didn't have a single problem. Very accurate. I couldn't be more happy.

I took it to the range, I was forwarned you need to fire 30 rounds thru it to break in clip, I had bought an extra clip made by a 3rd party that was not good, but the clip that came with it, just making sure you tap in clip. I had 2 times the first 2 clips where I had a failure to feed, after that 184 more shots went thru perfect

My first handgun was a hi-point 9mm. I was surprised how accurate and reliable the gun was because of the price, but I guess you don't offer an unlimited lifetime warranty on a product if it isn't made with the highest quality. I broke the gun in and cleaned it and never had a problem. I would recommend Hi-point for anyone who wants a good handgun.

Outstanding value! This pistol is worth twice as much. It is a well constructed, slightly heavy, excellent firearm for home protection. Don''t miss out on this one............Based on my test firing, this is as good as the P95. Shoots straight, kick is minimized by the guns weight and all cartridges fired perfectly. Great deal!

Ive owned my new Hi-Point .45 for about 4 months, ive dumped alot of rounds through it at the range, other than being a joke to take apart, i have no complaints You CANT go wrong with this gun for the money involved.
its never failed to load, or failed to eject
shoots pretty much dead on acurate in small groups
low recoil, with it being as heavy as it is, if it does ever fail im 95 shure i can throw it and knock em out if nothing else.
i own a old version of this guna a haskell js-45, that guna over ten years old and has never gave any one a problem to my knolage still works great for me.

Over my life I have shot many guns. By far this was the best purchase I have ever made. I have never shot a handgun that right out the box I fell in love with. I could not believe how accurate this inexpensive gun was even with cheap ammo. Im more of a revolver kind of guy and this was my first semi-auto that I have purchesed and it has made a beliver out of me. I have shot Glocks, S&W, Beretta and just about any type of semi-auto there is and never cared for them. And believe me I intened to purchase every type of gun that HI Point offers. Thank you Hi Point for making a great weapon.

I bought one in OD green, which did not help the already ugly look of this gun, but it was only $159.00, and I''ve been a major fan of the HP carbine for about 15 years. The pistol did not let me down.It is quite accurate when fired slowly, but I had a harder time keeping good groups at 7 yds. in rapid fire.[it could just be me].. The sights are not the best, and the magazine looks cheap, but the gun''s heavy weight makes it comfortable for long sessions and the magazines never failed to feed.
My only gripe is about the teflon coated feed ramp, which has a chip of teflon missing after only a few hundred rounds. The only failure to fire was with some wicked 165 gr. hollow points that may have caused the chip in the first place, and it only took a little tug of the slide to chamber the round. I have stuck with ball ammo since then, and have had no more problems.

I''ve shot the heck out of this as well as the 9mm 916HC. Fantastic! The 45 is a tad top heavy but for the price, I''ll stow them as home protection weapons and test them every 6 months instead of feeling like I need to shoot them often to get "my money''s worth".

For those financially challenged like myself, who want the benefits of some serious knockdown power and reliability, sacrificing weight, and looks, while not the ugliest and surely not the prettiest. Its looks are more than satisfactory to me. American built and very sturdy the HI-Point JHP .45 ACP is the Pistol you want. Costing a fraction of what some of the highend .45''s do i was not disappointed in this firearm at all. As a matter of fact, I did my research and for every naysayer there were ten who wouild highly recommend this gun for the econo minded. Probably the biggest bang for the buck of any .45 - Accuracy is great, it comes with standard adjustable sites, and swappable ghost ring site. 1 Clip and loads of safety features. $147 USD with Free Shipping you cant beat it. Rarely needs to be field stripped with just a general cleaning. Requires a tool to completely break down; however the manufacturer advises thats not really nescessary. It will take +P loads and youtube has a video of a +P 30% over max pressure with a hammered in barrel obstruction discharge, and it still didn''t misfire or explode. Check it out!

I had been looking to get a 45 for some time and stumbled across the Hi Point 45 ACP. With a limited budget I figured you can''t go wrong with this for only $160.99. It has proven to be a good purchase. It was originally back ordered so I did have to wait almost a month to receive it, but it was worth it. It is somewhat top heavy ]and heavy in general[ but is still very comfortable and easy to manage. First time shooting it I went through about 60 rds of 230 grain winchesters. The clip did fail to feed twice but a slight tug chambered the bullet and was good to go. I have several friends planning to buy one as well.

I just purchased this gun and haven''''t taken it out to see how well I do. I took it to my gunsmith and asked him what he thought. He said it was a well built gun. We talked about it''''s weight, and he said it will more then likely cut back on the amount of kick back. I bought it for personal protection in my home. I own every gun Hi-Point offers. Two of some. Not because of the price, but because they shoot accurate, never jam, have the best warranty, they offer lots of add ons, and smooth mechanics. .40 and .45''s are top heavy, which for me is perfect, as I have big hands. As far as shooting the .45, I''d rather shoot it than my Colt 1911 or my Colt New Agent. Also, at the price, you dont have to worry so much about scratching or hurting it. Can buy five of these for the price of one of other makes.....

I picked up a brand-new Hi-Point JHP 45 from a local pawn shop in El Paso, TX for $100. This weapon is fantastic!
PROS: Excellent accuracy, good trigger, nine-round capacity, good sights, solid build, good fit and finish, reasonable size. To date, we''ve ran nearly six hundred rounds through this pistol, a mix of WWB and Federal 230-grain FMJ, with a few Remington UMC included. We have experienced one failure to eject, seemingly induced by ammunition.
CONS: The accessory rail is a propietary design, no slide release, complex takedown, and the grips.
This pistol outshot a thousand-dollar Kimber and shoots quite well. Recoil is very manageable, rapid-fire is no problem, and this seems quite firm and well-built. I''m quite satisfied.

I''ve owned my HP for over a year and fired about 250 rounds. It works great with ball ammo. I did have some jam problems with mag-tech hollow points, so I don''t use them. With a gun this big and powerful FMJ will get the job done anyway. The gun is as accurate as I am. I have several pistols and enjoy the HP as much as any I own. It''s not as light or smooth as the Glock but that''s not really a fair comparison since the Glock costs 3 times as much. I like the fact that the HP has an external manual safety. Also it will not fire with the clip out, so in my mind its a safer weapon as far as I''m concerned. I wish it had a little higher capacity, maybe there will be a higher capacity magazine one of these days. I really don''t see how this gun can be outdone for the money. It''s winner in my book and I am buying a 9MM and and a 40MM. At these prices how can you go wrong?

in-law is trying to get one now. Good knock down gun with good 45 acp ammo
I recommend Hornady FTX or XTP 185 grain or higher up to 230 grain bullet
for this pistol,delivering a super penatrating round for self defense and
great knock down power. Recommend this weapon to anyone, although must say
that it a large frame weapon with alot of power so can only recommend this
for shooters that are experienced with semi-automatics and powerful recoils
with each shot,thus the heavier weight of the weapon to compensate for the

i recently purchase a 45 auto after i shot my buddies 9mm i originally was gonna purchase a 9mm but when went to buy one he was all sold out of the 9mm and the .40 he had 20 9mm's on hand when my buddy purchased his a week earlier. the hipoint is a high quality handgun that i have found to be very accurate. i enjoy shooting it for sport or for hunting. Great gun for the price. As soon as received it fom my local FFL dealer i went to the range immediately and fired 100 rounds and after a 2 intial jams the gun fired without a hitch. So to ensure this wasn''t a fluke i took it back to range and fired another 100 rounds and fired every single round without a single jam> The gun is a little heavy side by other than that its perfect for a starter in this caliber.
